Audi TT – review, trunk, engine, exterior and interior

The 2011 Audi TT coupe and roadster are getting a modest makeover inside and out, and a new 208-horsepower 2.0 TFSI engine is among the highlights. Look for these new 2011 Audi TT 2.0T models at U.S. dealers in early 2011. The new turbocharged and direct-injected, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is good for 208 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque from 1,600-4,200 rpm in the 2011 Audi TT. Compare this with 197 hp and 207 lb-ft on the 2010 Audi TT coupe and roadster. The company estimates combined fuel economy of this 2011 Audi TT is clocking at 36 mpg on the European test cycle; expect the U.S. EPA rating to be significantly lower than that — the current TT has a 21 mpg city/29 mpg highway/24 mpg combined rating.

Exterior alterations on the 2011 Audi TT include a revised front bumper with a new grille, larger air intakes, LED running lights, chrome-ringed fog lights and new xenon headlights (with an optional adaptive cornering function). In the back of 2011 Audi TT, you’ll find revised taillights, larger exhaust tips, and an enlarged black diffuser.

In the U.S., the new 2011 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI will come only with Audi’s S Tronic six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission (with steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles optional) and the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. While the even more muscular 2011 Audi TT RS, with its 335-hp turbocharged five-cylinder powerplant, is still a no-go for the U.S. market. Sadly, U.S. customers still miss out on the extreme 340 horsepower TT-RS on their version of 2011 Audi TT.

Changes for the 2011 Audi TT model year are minimal, though there are some major mechanical upgrades. However, there’s still a big Audi TT 2011 facelift on the new engine which is a two-stage variable exhaust valve lift. Changes in the equipment of the 2011 Audi TT include new chrome dual tailpipes, a reprogrammed optional magnetic ride suspension control system, revised bumper and grille designs for both the TT and TTS, and new Nappa leather trim as an option. All 2011 Audi TT models come standard with Quattro all-wheel drive and the S Tronic dual-clutch transmission.

Audi claims that 2011 Audi TT 0-60 mph acceleration will take less than 5.6 seconds. While the top speed of 2011 Audi TT is 152 mph. The upgraded engine whips the 2011 Audi TT Coupe three-tenths improvement on last year’s car and the Roadster is expected to see similar gains. Importantly, this means the base four-cylinder of 2011 Audi TT is now quicker to 60 mph than its six-cylinder rivals, the BMW Z4 sDrive30i, and the Mercedes-Benz SLK300.
